How to Clean a Diamond Ring

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so you better keep them shiny and clean!

Oh, diamonds, diamonds and more diamonds! As we all know, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Well, that and loads of money! But, one thing is for sure ladies, if you are going to have some diamonds, especially a big, beautiful diamond ring, you better keep that bling clean! I’m going to tell you how to keep those diamond rings shiny and beautiful. Here are three tips to keeping that zinger of a ring gorgeous:

Soak and use a mild detergent

Start off by soaking your diamond ring in a mixture of a mild liquid detergent and warm water. Find a soft brush, a soft bristle toothbrush will work well, and lightly scrub to remove any grime or dirt. You can also use a toothpick to push away any dirt or grime if the brush doesn’t necessarily do the trick, just be very careful and gentle. Put the ring back in the solution and move around in the water, next go ahead and rinse the ring out very good with warm water. Don’t forget to close the drain in the sink before you rinse your ring out, because I would hate to know you ended the day being Mrs. plumber and tearing apart your bathroom pipes. Get a lint free towel or cloth and then pat the ring dry.

Use window cleaner

Close the drain and fill the sink full of hot water and put your ring in there to soak for a few minutes. Find a small container and fill with window cleaner. After soaking your ring in the water, move it to the container of window cleaner and let it soak there for a few more minutes, 10 minutes should be plenty of time. Find a soft bristle brush and scrub ring good, but be gentle! Drain the old water from the sink and fill it back up with more hot water. Go ahead and let the ring soak for just a little while longer, after soaking, scrub the ring some more under some hot water running from the sink. Rinse and then pat dry.

Over the counter cleaners

These also work well in cleaning your diamond ring. Make sure the cleaner you get is suitable for diamonds and any other metal that your ring is composed of. Drop your ring down in the solution and soak for about 10 minutes. Of course, the cleaner will have instructions, but I’ve done this a few times so that is about the time frame needed to get the dirt and grime loose. The cleaners will come with a small brush, use this to scrub your ring, dipping the brush into the solution every so often as you scrub your ring. Next, close drain on sink and rinse your ring off under warm running water. Then, you just gently dry your ring and it will look shiny and new!

Well, guys and gals, there you go! Three ways to keep your diamond baubles looking like the first day you purchased them. It might have been an engagement ring, a wedding band or perhaps a treat for yourself ring. Either way, you want to keep it looking beautiful and lovely as long as it’s on your finger!
