How to Clean a Porcelain Grill

There are very few ways to tackle the cleaning of a grill surface. Today I will inform you about porcelain grate cleaning.
First you will need a soft cleaning brush made of brass. A brass cleaning brush will not scar the porcelain grate. Next is what can one put on it to release food particles from grate.

Some will tell you to buy a steam-cleaning unit like you see on TV. Yes they work great but the expense often outweighs the need. Many yeas ago I heard of vinegar and baking soda ideas to clean . Some have even said ammonia does the trick. Not to be out done I even heard of people boiling and soaking over night, and still scrubbing them for hours.

Some will say to use oven-cleaning mode in you kitchen oven by using your supper-heated oven to incinerate every ting on the grates. This leaves nothing but ash to wipe off. Yes this does also work; but again you are using money and lots of energy to get the job done.

There is one product I have used to clean and repair the look of most everything one might want to scrub. It comes from SerVaas Laboratories, it is called Bar Keepers Friend. You will find this product at most hardware stores or even your local market.

Buy it in the powder form just like any Comet, Ajax, etc..now all you have to do is make a paste from the powder .Next you apply it to surface of the Porcelain Grills on all sides. Let the paste sit over night on the grills. The next day take your soft brass brush and clean all of the gunk off.You may have to repeat this process if you have not obtained the result you are looking for .

The grill is the most often abused cooking device around one’s home. If you spray pan release (PAM) on your porcelain grills you will find they will always be kind to what ever you are grilling. This is very important! As a chef for many decades I can assure you we do this every time we clean any cooking surface. We even apply it to meat and veggies to keep them from sticking before place any thing on grills.

So now you know what options are out there today. It up to you on how much money you want to throw at cleaning the surface of you porcelain grills. Me I like to use brain before bran. Buy the Bar Keeper Friend, in powder form and you and your grill will be friends for ever.
